The other night I attended a function that was hosted by my church and we all sang the song "Have I Done Any Good?" as part of the evening. The lyrics of the second verse really seemed to hit home for me. I thought I would share them here.
There are chances for work all around just now,
Opportunities right in our way.
Do not let them pass by, saying, "Sometime I'll try,"
But go and do something today.
'Tis noble of man to work and to give;
Love's labor has merit alone.
Only he who does something helps others to live.
To God each good work will be known.
Text and music: Will L. Thompson, 1847-1909, alt.
So when you are struggling to feel motivated to get up and do something, think of the words to this song. Remember that you can improve the world around you if you only look for opportunities to do so.
